Crosby Scholars Fall Frenzy K on November 22nd!

Crosby Scholars of Iredell County is hosting its first-ever Fall Frenzy 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, November 22, and you're invited to be part of the celebration! This community fundraiser marks Crosby Scholars’ 10th anniversary and supports FREE career and college exploration for more than 1,700 local students.  Crosby Scholars is open to ALL public middle and high school students in Iredell County!

  • Location: ESC Park, Troutman, NC
  • Race Start: 9:00 AM
  • Registration: $35 (includes commemorative T-shirt).  $25 for students.  (Please e-mail Jennifer Christian jchristian@crosbyscholarsiredell.org if this poses a financial hardship)

  • To guarantee your preferred shirt size, please register by November 14.

  • Perks: Free Fall Frenzy 5K T-shirt, music, yard games, post-race snacks, and prizes for the top finishers!

  • All are welcome: Walkers, runners, strollers, and leashed pets

Congratulations to Heather Dougherty - New CP/DP Coordinator at SIHS!

We are pleased to announce that Heather Dougherty will be taking over the role of Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) Coordinator at South Iredell High School.

Mrs. Dougherty has been a valued member of the South Iredell faculty for the past seven years, during which she has taught both MYP and DP science courses and served as the Personal Project Coordinator. Her experience working closely with IB students has given her a deep understanding of the program’s rigor and the support students need to thrive.

Before joining South Iredell, Mrs. Dougherty taught science for five years at Enka High School in Asheville. She holds degrees in Science Education and Chemistry from North Carolina State University and a Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Mrs. Dougherty is excited to step into this new leadership role and looks forward to continuing her work with students and staff to support academic excellence and the IB mission at South Iredell High School.

Congratulations to Kinsi King - New IB MYP Coordinator at SIHS!

South Iredell High School is proud to announce the appointment of Kinsi King as the new International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator. A passionate educator with 20 years of classroom experience, King brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and dedication to the role.

With 15 years of experience teaching in the MYP and three additional years in the IB Diploma Programme (DP), King has a proven track record of delivering instruction aligned with the IB philosophy. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Muskingum University, as well as a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Appalachian State University.

"I’m honored to step into this role and continue supporting students and educators within the MYP framework," said King. "The IB's emphasis on critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and global engagement deeply resonates with my own educational values and experiences."

In addition to classroom and program-level expertise, King is a United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Teacher Fellow and an Echoes & Reflections Teacher Leader. She currently serves as one of the Regional Directors for the North Carolina Council on the Holocaust, further underscoring a strong commitment to historical awareness, social justice, and human rights education.

Congratulations to Latonia Bostic - New AP at SIHS!

We are happy to announce that Latonia Bostic has been selected  as our new Assistant Principal! Over the past nine years, Mrs. Bostic has been a valued part of our school. Her passion, leadership, and dedication to student success have greatly contributed to our IB programmes and our whole school community.

Mrs. Bostic holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Lenoir-Rhyne University. She holds a Master of Arts in Education Degree with a focus in Science from East Carolina University, and completed the Add-On School Administration License from Appalachian State University. Additionally, she is a National Board Certified Teacher. 

Mrs. Bostic expressed that South Iredell High School is truly a special place.

After nine years at South Iredell High School - including three years teaching science and six years coordinating the IB programmes - I am honored to step into the role of Assistant Principal. My experience working with the amazing students, staff and families has deepened my commitment to continuing to foster academic excellence and building our wonderful school community. I look forward to embracing this new leadership opportunity and continuing to be a part of the Viking Nation”.

We have two more portrait dates that will be on campus (in the PAC). If neither of these dates work for you, you will have to book an appointment at CADY Studios.
